Why Lightup exists at all
Aaliyah built The Lightup Hub after working directly with young people that traditional education had failed.
She was selected to work alongside government-supported programmes supporting students who:
- had been removed from mainstream school
- were struggling with mental health
- had lost confidence in education completely
That experience shaped The Lightup Hub; which was designed to deliver English education in a different way to the classroom...
No shame.
No judgement.
No “just try harder” nonsense.
